The GiE Group

A social enterprise with a simple but powerful mission: to equip humanitarian actors with meaningful data, practical training, and trusted expertise to advance gender equality.

About The Venture

The Gender in Emergencies Group (GiE) is a social enterprise focused on advancing gender equality within humanitarian action and emergency response settings.

The organisation provides expert technical support, consultancy and training designed to help organisations strengthen their understanding and implementation of gender-responsive approaches during crises and emergencies. Its work spans direct consultancy support, rapid gender analysis, coaching and structured training programmes for organisations and practitioners working across humanitarian and development sectors.

Alongside delivering direct support to clients, GiE focuses on building long-term capacity within organisations and individuals, enabling them to strengthen their own approaches to gender equality and inclusion. The organisation’s model is built around making high-quality expertise more accessible and affordable while reinvesting the majority of generated income back into advancing gender equality in emergency contexts.

Through this combination of consultancy, training and reinvestment, GiE aims to support more inclusive humanitarian systems and improve outcomes for women, girls and marginalised groups affected by crises.

The Challenge

As a mission-led social enterprise operating within the humanitarian and training sector, GiE required support to strengthen its long-term growth strategy and operational sustainability. The organisation was balancing the delivery of highly specialised consultancy and training services with the need to scale impact and build a more resilient commercial model. There was also a need to strengthen organisational planning and ensure the venture could continue growing while maintaining accessibility and alignment with its social mission. Alongside this, the organisation sought support to strengthen strategic focus and identify opportunities for sustainable growth within the wider humanitarian and education landscape.
